Brandon has performed with many ensembles throughout the midwest including the Chris Merz's X-tet, Orchestra Alto Maiz, Group X, Ants Or Giants, Benchwarmers, Dubuque Symphony, Wartburg Symphony, Cedar Falls-Waterloo Symphony, Cedar Rapids Symphony. He has performed with several groups (including Chris Merz's X-tet, Benchwarmers, and Ants Or Giants) at the Iowa City Jazz Festival. He has performed with artists such as Bobby Shew, Chris Potter, Dick Oatts, Clark Terry, Ray Anderson, Rich Perry, Cuong Vu, Byron Stripling, Peter Erskine, Bob Florence, Bobby Watson, Ben Monder, Jeff Coffin, and Paul McKee. Since moving to NYC in 2009, he has performed with the Maria Schneider Orchestra and currently is a member of the funk band Mokaad.
He has recorded several cds with the award-winning University of Northern Iowa Jazz Band One.
He received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Northern Iowa in May 2005 and currently is working on his Masters in Jazz Performance at SUNY Purchase College in NY. His primary teachers have included Max Poe, Darryl White, Gene Smith, Bob Washut, Chris Merz, Randy Grabowski, and Jon Faddis. He has also received lessons from Ryan Kisor, Bobby Shew, Barbara Butler, Laurie Frink, and Byron Stripling.
As an educator, Brandon has directed the University of Northern Iowa Jazz Band 3. He has also done masterclasses as a clinician/performer at several high schools throughout Iowa.
